About Srinagar:

Srinagar, founded over 2,000 years ago by King Pravarasena II, is the summer capital of the Indian-administered state of Jammu and Kashmir. Known as the heart of Kashmir, the city proudly preserves the cultural imprints of the Mughal and British eras. It is famous for its picturesque lakes, lush gardens, and the charming houseboats that float gracefully on its waters.

In addition to its natural beauty, Srinagar is renowned for its traditional Kashmiri handicrafts, exquisite Kashmiri clothing, and high-quality dry fruits. The city is surrounded by five districts, with Kargil to the north, Pulwama to the south, and Budgam to the northwest.

After breakfast, you will embark on a scenic drive to Gulmarg, a renowned hill station known for its breathtaking landscapes. With the introduction of the Gondola Cable Car, Gulmarg has become the highest lift-served ski resort in the world, offering an exhilarating downhill ski run of 5.2 km from an altitude of 14,000 ft in the Apharwat range. It also holds the distinction of being the longest gondola-served ski lift in Asia. Tickets for Gondola Phase-1 and Phase-2 are subject to online availability, especially during peak season. If tickets are unavailable, an alternative day trip to Doodhpathri will be arranged, depending on feasibility for the group. Sightseeing in Gulmarg, including Union cabs, pony rides, and ATV bikes, is self-paid. Our vehicle will drop you at the taxi/bus stand, from where there is a walking distance of approximately 1 km to the Gondola Station. A local guide may be hired for Gulmarg as recommended by the J&K Tourism Department. After an eventful day, return to Srinagar for an overnight stay.

Gulmarg, situated at an altitude of 2,690 meters above sea level, is a mesmerizing hill station known for its lush green meadows and serene surroundings. Historically, it was called Gauri Marg by shepherds, but in the 16th century, Sultan Yusuf Shah, enchanted by its vibrant floral landscapes, renamed it Gulmarg, meaning “Meadow of Flowers.” The hill station also served as a favored retreat for Mughal Emperor Jehangir, who is believed to have collected 21 different varieties of flowers from this picturesque valley.

After breakfast, you can proceed for a sightseeing tour of Pahalgam, visiting the picturesque Betaab Valley, Chandanwari, and Aru Valley by local taxi (Union Cab on a sharing basis, self-paid). These scenic spots offer breathtaking views of lush greenery, snow-capped mountains, and pristine rivers. After a day of exploration, return for an overnight stay at a hotel in Pahalgam.

Betaab Valley, located 15 kilometers from Pahalgam, is a well-known tourist attraction named after the Bollywood film Betaab, starring Sunny Deol and Amrita Singh, which was shot here. The valley lies between Pahalgam and Chandanwari and serves as an en route location for the Amarnath Temple Yatra. Surrounded by green meadows, dense forests, and snow-covered peaks, Betaab Valley is a paradise for nature lovers. Aru Valley, situated around 12 kilometers from Pahalgam, is known for its enchanting meadows, pristine lakes, and towering mountains. It is a popular base camp for trekkers heading to the Kolahoi Glacier and Tarsar Lake. The village is nestled on the left bank of the Aru River, a tributary of the Lidder River, making it a serene getaway for those seeking tranquility and adventure.

Chandanwari, located 16 kilometers from Pahalgam, is the starting point of the annual Amarnath Yatra, a significant pilgrimage that takes place during the Hindu month of Sawan. The region is also famous for snow sledding on a natural snow bridge, attracting tourists during the winter season. With its breathtaking landscapes and diverse attractions, Pahalgam and its surrounding valleys truly represent the beauty of Kashmir—A Heaven on Earth—where every season brings a new charm and celebration.
