This 8-day Iceland tour offers a comprehensive exploration of the country's most remarkable natural and cultural landmarks. Beginning in Reykjavik, participants will have the opportunity to explore the capital’s key attractions, including Hallgrimskirkja Church, Harpa Concert Hall, and the Sun Voyager sculpture, as well as experience Icelandic cuisine and geothermal pools. The journey then proceeds along the Golden Circle, featuring visits to Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Geysir geothermal area, and the iconic Gullfoss waterfall. Continuing along the South Coast, travelers will witness the striking Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss waterfalls, as well as the dramatic Reynisfjara black sand beach.
The itinerary includes a full day in Vatnajokull National Park, offering seasonal activities such as glacier hiking or ice cave exploration, along with a visit to the breathtaking Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach. The tour then traverses the Eastfjords, providing scenic views of Vestrahorn mountain, stops at the historic fishing village of Djupivogur, and a visit to the stunning Hengifoss waterfall. In North Iceland, highlights include the Dettifoss waterfall, one of Europe’s most powerful waterfalls, the Myvatn geothermal region, and the picturesque Godafoss waterfall, with an optional visit to the Myvatn Nature Baths.
A unique whale-watching experience in Dalvik is included, offering the chance to see humpback whales, dolphins, and orcas. Travelers will also explore the Trollaskagi Peninsula, visit the charming fishing village of Siglufjordur, and admire the region’s stunning coastal landscapes. The journey through West Iceland features geological wonders such as Grabok crater, Deildartunghver hot spring, and Hraunfossar waterfalls, before concluding in Reykjavik. Upon arrival in Reykjavik, enjoy a free day to explore Iceland’s vibrant capital. You can visit iconic landmarks like Hallgrimskirkja Church, Harpa Concert Hall, and the Sun Voyager sculpture. Stroll through local markets, explore museums, or take a dip in geothermal pools like Laugardalslaug. In the evening, savor local cuisine at a restaurant before heading to your hotel for check-in and a relaxing night.
Embark on the famous Golden Circle route, starting with Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site where you can walk between two tectonic plates. Next, visit the Geysir geothermal area, where you’ll see the Strokkur geyser erupt. End the Golden Circle with a stop at the mighty Gullfoss waterfall. Continue to the South Coast, visiting the picturesque Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss waterfalls, and explore the Reynisfjara black sand beach. Overnight at a hotel on the South Coast.
Spend the day in Vatnajokull National Park. In summer (April to October), you can go glacier hiking, while in winter (November to March), explore a magical ice cave. Visit the Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon to see floating icebergs, followed by a walk on the stunning Diamond Beach. Keep an eye out for seals and other wildlife. Overnight in a hotel near Hofn.
Drive through the scenic Eastfjords, taking in the dramatic views of Vestrahorn mountain. Visit the charming fishing village of Djupivogur and the largest forest in Iceland, Hallormstadaskogur. Take a short hike to see the Hengifoss and Litlanesfoss waterfalls. Overnight near the town of Egilsstadir.
Head north to see the powerful Dettifoss waterfall, the most voluminous in Europe. Explore the Myvatn region, where you can visit the Dimmuborgir lava fortress and the Namaskard geothermal area, known for its bubbling mud pools. Take a dip in the soothing waters of Myvatn Nature Baths (optional). Before reaching Akureyri, stop at the beautiful Godafoss waterfall. Overnight in Akureyri.
Begin the day with a whale-watching tour from Dalvik, where you might see humpback whales, dolphins, and even orcas. Continue to Siglufjordur, a quaint village known for its herring fishing history. Drive along the Trollaskagi peninsula, taking in breathtaking views of the mountains and coastlines, passing traditional Icelandic horse farms. Overnight near Laugarbakki.
Visit Grabok crater for a short hike with panoramic views. Stop at Deildartunghver, Europe’s most powerful hot spring, and admire the unique Hraunfossar and Barnafossar waterfalls. Explore the historic Reykholt village, where the medieval writer Snorri Sturluson lived. On your way back to Reykjavik, drive through the scenic Hvalfjordur fjord. If traveling in winter, spend the evening hunting for the northern lights. Overnight in Reykjavik.
On your last day, enjoy shopping in Reykjavik or take a short day tour, such as whale watching or a visit to the Blue Lagoon (optional). Depart for Keflavik International Airport for your flight back home.
