The journey then transforms completely as you fly to Puerto Maldonado and travel deep into the Amazon, staying in a rainforest lodge near Tambopata National Reserve. Itinerary
- Welcome to Peru!
- On arrival in Cusco, our representative will meet you at the airport and transfer you to Yucay in the Sacred Valley.
- Staying in the Sacred Valley on the first night also allows you to gradually acclimatise to the altitude rather than immediately staying in Cusco.
- Depending on your arrival time, we can make a stop at Pisac, known for its colourful local market and impressive Inca ruins.
- Continue to Yucay and check in at your hotel. The evening is free to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
- Cusco to Yucay: approximately 1.5 hours
- Overnight: La Casona Yucay or similar
After breakfast, begin a full-day exploration of some of the most fascinating sights around the Sacred Valley.
Visit:
- Chinchero – known for its colourful market, traditional culture and colonial church
- Maras – a charming town where Inca and colonial influences meet
- Moray – extraordinary circular agricultural terraces believed to have been used for experimentation
- Salineras – thousands of salt pools fed by natural underground springs, harvested using traditional methods dating back to the Inca era
Enjoy lunch before continuing to Ollantaytambo railway station.
Board the scenic train to Aguas Calientes, the gateway to Machu Picchu.
On arrival, walk to your hotel and relax.

After breakfast, take the bus up to the legendary Machu Picchu.
Enjoy a guided exploration of this extraordinary 15th-century Inca citadel, dramatically perched high above the Sacred Valley.
Machu Picchu is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world's most iconic archaeological wonders.
After your visit, return by bus to Aguas Calientes and board the train back to Ollantaytambo.
From Ollantaytambo, continue by road to Cusco.

Marvel at the enormous precisely carved stones that make Sacsayhuaman one of the finest examples of Inca engineering.
The afternoon is free to enjoy Cusco at your own pace — browse local shops, relax in a café or simply wander through this beautiful historic city.

A day to slow down and enjoy Cusco your way.
Explore the city independently, shop for local handicrafts, enjoy Peruvian cuisine or simply relax.

For those choosing Rainbow Mountain, the day begins very early and involves a high-altitude hike. The experience rewards you with spectacular views of the colourful mineral layers of the Andes and the surrounding Ausangate region.
Important: Rainbow Mountain is at very high altitude and is physically demanding. Good acclimatisation is essential.

Today, the landscape changes dramatically!
Fly to Puerto Maldonado, the biodiversity capital of Peru.
From here, travel by boat along the Madre de Dios River into the heart of the rainforest, arriving at your Amazon lodge.
After lunch and an introduction to the available activities, settle into your rainforest cabaña.
Later, begin your first jungle experience with a rainforest trail walk. Keep your eyes open for birds, monkeys, sloths and fascinating rainforest flora.
As daylight fades, head out for a Twilight River excursion, where you may spot nightjars, owls, capybaras and caimans.
Dinner at the lodge, followed by a night surrounded by the sounds of the Amazon.

Wake up surrounded by the rainforest.
Today's adventure takes you deeper into Tambopata National Reserve.
Visit Lake Sandoval, an incredible oxbow lake reached through the rainforest. Depending on conditions and wildlife activity, you may encounter giant river otters, monkeys, colourful macaws, anacondas, turtles and black caimans.
Return to the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, experience the spectacular Canopy Walkway, crossing hanging suspension bridges high above the rainforest floor.
From the treetop platforms, look out for toucans, woodpeckers, monkeys, sloths and other rainforest wildlife.
After dark, venture into the forest once again for a Rainforest by Night experience, searching for nocturnal creatures with your guide.

Enjoy your final morning in the rainforest.
After breakfast, board the boat for the return journey along the Madre de Dios River to Puerto Maldonado airport.
